The Missing Piece
I build custom software engines and the architecture that connects them to a working application. Starting with mathematical rules and practical constraints lets me shape a system around a specific need: generating learning activities, coordinating interactive graphics, processing documents, or connecting local AI. I build the underlying logic and the tools people use to operate and refine it.
My Approach
See how clear rules, traceable information and focused interfaces turn separate parts into a useful system.
Color Engine
- Define the rules once, then connect the controls and rendering to the same values.
- Keep visual effects separate from the underlying calculations.
- Reuse the engine with different designs, rather than rebuilding it for each surface.
Inspect the Implementation
- The Problem
- A design becomes difficult to maintain when each control and effect calculates its settings differently.
- My Engineering Choice
- Validate the input once and pass the same color and brightness contract to different renderers.
- Scope
- Interactive public example. The gears explain the connection; they are not part of the color calculation.
Document Intelligence
- Route embedded text and scanned pages independently; preserve usable pages when extraction fails.
- Compare OCR passes and flag identifier and mathematical notation ambiguities for human review.
- Keep raw records separate from corrections, then retrieve eligible evidence with source IDs and an explicit context budget.
- Use narrative boundaries and adjustable scene budgets for prose, preserving references when a scene crosses pages.
Inspect the Implementation
- The Problem
- Reading a document is not enough if extracted text loses its source or one failed page stops the whole process.
- My Engineering Choice
- Keep page handling, OCR integration, chunking and source records separate, with explicit warnings for partial failures.
- Scope
- Browser port of the reviewed public ingestion sample. OCR readings are supplied by a fixture. The optional Tesseract adapter is source code for local use, not a service running on this page.
Survey Insights
- Keep calculations in code and make the counting rules explicit.
- Let filters change the records and every summary together.
- Count themes without pretending frequency proves influence or importance.
Inspect the Implementation
- The Problem
- A chart is hard to trust when its filters, counts and underlying records do not agree.
- My Engineering Choice
- Filter the records first, calculate every summary from that same set and keep the source responses inspectable.
- Scope
- Browser implementation with synthetic data. Sentiment scores are fixture inputs, not predictions from a model.
Repository Triage · Inspect PowerShell
Scoped source inventory, dependency pruning and bounded file reads. Keyword signals guide investigation; they do not prove system behavior. This source sample does not run in your browser.
Pi Console Toolkit · Inspect Source
MIT-licensed Bash utilities for Raspberry Pi OS and Debian. The source bundle includes all scripts and the license. Installation uses sudo apt and changes your Bash configuration; uninstall leaves packages installed. Scripts have not been run here.
Unicode Input Inspection · Inspect TypeScript
Orphans-Vigil public research sample: code points, Unicode format-character flags and NFC/NFKC comparisons. This is not a complete invisible-character detector, sanitizer or demonstration of model compromise. No model calls run here. Original supplied without a license; licensor-controlled material now has portfolio evaluation terms.
Airless Node · Inspect Python
MIT-licensed offline response checks with structured batch results and unit-test source. The checks flag empty responses and selected instruction references; passing means only that these rules found no match. No model inference or distributed execution. Tests have not been run here.
PowerShell Workflows · Eight Tools
MIT-licensed PDF/OCR staging, corpus checks, narrative chunks, source inventories and opt-in local-model review. This is separate from the twelve-tool evaluation kit. Read the supplied prerequisites and integration notes before running.
Biography
I founded Full Metal Logic in November 2020. My background spans general and special education, independent computer support, venture development, and international agricultural technology consulting. I bring that experience into software by connecting user needs, technical constraints, and a practical delivery plan.
Growing up in San Bernardino, California, and rebuilding through poverty, homelessness, and personal loss shaped my persistence and concern for access. In classrooms, that meant supporting learners, families, and multidisciplinary teams. In software, it means building tools people can understand and use.
Skills
Traits
First Principles Engineer
I start with mathematical rules and physical constraints, then build the engines and architecture that express them. Owning the underlying logic lets me target specific problems precisely across education, graphics, document processing, and computing systems.
Autodidact
I learn through simultaneous study and application. Mathematics describes the relationships I observe; code turns them into models I can experiment with and refine.
- Self-Taught
- Independent research and implementation build depth in modern development techniques. Unfamiliar legacy conventions and dependencies need additional study; the linked Legacy Stack Gap explains that tradeoff.
Approach: Studies underlying rules while implementing them, using observations from each build to guide the next learning step.
Application: Applies first-principles reasoning across disciplines to build a missing engine, interface, or architectural component.
- Modern Languages
- I use TypeScript and JavaScript for applications, and Python and PowerShell for processing and development tools. Database integration is historical experience.
Tools & Techniques: TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, PowerShell, Git, JSON / JSONL, SQLite
- Coordinate file discovery, staged processing, cache preparation, backup creation, and output packaging.
- Build repository inspection scripts and tools for diagnosing integration failures.
- Use structured configuration and processing records to make multi step work repeatable and reviewable.
Development automation and processing tools used across projects; SQLite and database integration are historical project experience.
Approach: Chooses languages and frameworks to fit application, processing, and operating requirements.
Application: Builds custom processing scripts and reusable tools around the task.
- Deep System Knowledge
- I define responsibilities across interfaces, services, engines, and stored information. Mathematics engines use explicit rules and expected answers.
Tools & Techniques: React, TypeScript, Node.js, Express, REST APIs, State machines
- Separate application composition, rendering surfaces, input controllers, and shared configuration.
- Define request/response contracts and ownership across interfaces, services, processing stages, and local compute.
- Connect deterministic problem generation, local model output, curriculum data, and instructional presentation.
- Model cloud versus local workload cost and emissions assumptions using run volume, active and idle energy, hardware life, facility overhead, and service equivalence gates.
Experience spans the educational Alpha, application facing local services, and this portfolio's component architecture.
Approach: Defines inputs, outputs, state ownership, and dependencies before changing a system.
Application: Builds the engine, service, or interface needed to provide a missing capability.
- Backend Integration
- I build application services connecting interfaces, local models, and structured document processing, with defined responsibilities for each stage.
Tools & Techniques: Node.js, Express, TypeScript, HTTP / REST, Flask, Structured JSON
- Connect a browser interface to an application server and a separate local inference endpoint.
- Shape generation requests and process responses for downstream application use.
- Keep deterministic processing, generated content, stored records, and presentation responsibilities separate.
Local application integration experience, including educational generation; multi user production operations are a separate deployment scope.
Approach: Considers request handling, data flow, model endpoints, and service boundaries together.
Application: Turns local model inference and processed information into application-facing capabilities.
- Inventive Problem Solver
- I translate specific requirements into custom logic, interfaces, or architecture and refine the behavior through experiments.
Approach: Investigates what can be repaired, adapted, or repurposed before replacing it.
Application: Forges the missing tool or workbench instead of accepting the limits of existing products.
- Computing & Systems Integration
- I integrate workstation hardware, local model runtimes, and multimedia routing. Work includes GPU and storage configuration, troubleshooting, and OBS/VoiceMeeter signal paths; earlier physical interface work is experimental.
Tools & Techniques: Workstation assembly, GPU configuration, Local runtimes, OBS, VoiceMeeter, Browser source graphics
- Configure compute, storage, cooling, and local model environments around practical workloads.
- Compose browser rendered streaming scenes from independent backgrounds, characters, typography, and effects.
- Route application audio and configure capture, compression, ducking, and scene behavior.
- Explore physical input and haptic prototypes as earlier experimental work.
Independent paid technical support began during school years, followed by freelance computer systems work from June 2014 to September 2021. Work included hardware, operating systems, peripherals, networking, and compatibility troubleshooting for individuals and small organizations. Current work adds local compute and multimedia integration; physical input and haptic projects remain historical experiments.
Approach: Traces hardware, runtime, and application behavior under practical resource constraints.
Application: Builds or adapts the configuration and tools needed for a specific workload.
- Political Science & Systems Theory
- My political science background connects political theory, institutional analysis, and relationships within complex systems. I apply that perspective when examining incentives and how changes affect the whole.
Approach: Looks at incentives, institutions, and relationships alongside technical mechanisms.
Application: Uses a principle from one system to expose a useful approach in another.
Known Limitations
- Terminology Gap
- Independent learning can produce implementation knowledge before conventional vocabulary. Establishing shared terminology can require extra explanation.
Approach: Establish shared definitions using documentation, concrete examples, and implementation context before relying on a label alone.
Application: Independent reasoning becomes easier for a team to review and reuse once the terminology is aligned.
- Legacy Stack Gap
- Modern stack experience is my strongest area. Unfamiliar legacy frameworks and operating conventions need additional research and compatibility assessment.
Approach: Allow time to map the existing behavior, dependencies and compatibility requirements before proposing a change. Preserve required behavior while learning unfamiliar conventions.
Application: Modern implementation experience can support targeted improvements once the legacy constraints are understood; it does not make a rewrite the default answer.
- Over-Polishing
- Refinement can continue beyond the immediate requirement. Clear acceptance criteria and milestones are needed to keep delivery priorities in control.
Approach: Define acceptance criteria and milestones, separate required fixes from optional polish, and put further refinement into a scoped follow-up.
Application: Attention to detail can improve clarity and maintainability when it serves an agreed requirement rather than an open-ended pursuit of perfection.
Advantages
My specialization sits at the intersection of modern software, systems thinking, and hands-on invention. The strengths and constraints together shape how I approach a problem: learn quickly, make responsibilities explicit, and build the missing capability with deliberate dependencies.
- Modern Techniques: Granular Compatibility
- Modern languages and techniques meet deliberate compatibility assessment. Map the older system's behavior, isolate its constraints and introduce focused changes rather than assuming a rewrite.
- Stable Systems: Scoped Refinement
- System knowledge and explicit responsibilities guide failure isolation, predictable data flow and recovery. Acceptance criteria keep refinement focused on behavior the system actually needs.
- Original Solutions: Shared Technical Language
- Independent invention becomes easier to evaluate and integrate when the implementation is connected to shared terminology and explicit contracts. The result is a novel component others can understand and maintain.
Experience
Software Architecture & Engines
I design how interfaces, services, processing engines, stored information, and local computing resources operate together. Defined inputs, outputs, and ownership boundaries give each component a clear place in the application.
My mathematics engines use deterministic algorithms, typed problem structures, configurable difficulty, and expected answer evaluation. Explicit rules support behavior that needs a defined correctness criterion; local AI supports generation and interpretation where appropriate.
The website demonstrates the same ownership approach in React: pages compose content, visual systems own their rendering layers, and local controllers coordinate interaction and cleanup.
Deep System Knowledge
Tools & Techniques: React, TypeScript, Node.js, Express, REST APIs, State machines
- Separate application composition, rendering surfaces, input controllers, and shared configuration.
- Define request/response contracts and ownership across interfaces, services, processing stages, and local compute.
- Connect deterministic problem generation, local model output, curriculum data, and instructional presentation.
- Model cloud versus local workload cost and emissions assumptions using run volume, active and idle energy, hardware life, facility overhead, and service equivalence gates.
Experience spans the educational Alpha, application facing local services, and this portfolio's component architecture.
Mathematics & Learning Engines
Tools & Techniques: TypeScript, Deterministic algorithms, Typed problem records, Difficulty parameters
- Build problem factories for addition, subtraction, arrays, equal groups, place value, fraction comparison, and two step word problems.
- Represent problem type, question content, difficulty, and expected answers as structured records.
- Keep answer generation and evaluation rules in conventional code while local AI supplies narrative or contextual material.
Educational Alpha development and historical factories; operation coverage and validation vary by implementation.
Graphics & Interaction Engineering
I build interactive systems using Canvas, WebGL, GLSL, SVG, and CSS. Work includes procedural particles, material composition, holographic portraits, custom typography, and coordinated scene transitions.
Asset readiness and explicit phases determine when effects reveal, respond, and exit. Visibility tracking, rendering budgets, and disposal paths govern optional rendering work. Python generated masks and textures connect asset preparation with runtime composition.
Development workbenches expose the real components for isolated adjustment and preset export. These controls manage rendering work; performance depends on the device and the combined effects in use.
Visual Systems Engineering
Tools & Techniques: WebGL2, GLSL, Canvas 2D, SVG, CSS, Procedural noise
- Author procedural sphere and cosmic field effects using noise, domain warping, spherical calculations, and shader uniforms.
- Turn image or text masks into particle targets, then use spring forces, damping, scatter, and reassembly behavior.
- Coordinate state driven reveals, material layers, pointer response, and animation lifecycles.
- Use particle caps, pixel budgets, visibility gates, reduced motion paths, and resource cleanup to bound rendering work.
Current portfolio rendering and earlier visual system implementations; historical components may differ from the current presentation.
Asset Pipelines & Authoring Tools
Tools & Techniques: Python, Pillow, Alpha channels, Contour masks, Texture preparation, CSS compositing
- Generate contour masks, illuminated typography, garment highlights, and frosted material assets.
- Align source geometry, transparency, masks, and the rendering layers that consume them.
- Move selected image operations into offline preparation and expose real components through tuning workbenches.
Asset generation and authoring infrastructure supporting the portfolio and reusable visual components.
Applied AI, Data & Delivery
I build application-facing services around locally hosted language models. TypeScript, Node.js, Express, and HTTP APIs connect requests, model inference, structured results, and application interfaces. The educational Alpha combines local generation with instructional data and conventional algorithms.
Document processing work uses Python, Tesseract, Poppler, and PowerShell to extract and stage information from PDFs and scanned material. Structured output and source references support review of the processing results. Separate local retrieval workflows keep reference collections apart from source records, carry document identifiers into evidence packets, and flag unsupported claims or open questions for human checking.
Connection-aware startup is another delivery problem: browser hints and a timed transfer probe guide presentation tiers, while readable HTML provides a fallback. These policies estimate delivery conditions rather than detecting physical signal strength. The educational system remains an Alpha; deployment requirements are assessed separately.
Backend Integration
Tools & Techniques: Node.js, Express, TypeScript, HTTP / REST, Flask, Structured JSON
- Connect a browser interface to an application server and a separate local inference endpoint.
- Shape generation requests and process responses for downstream application use.
- Keep deterministic processing, generated content, stored records, and presentation responsibilities separate.
Local application integration experience, including educational generation; multi user production operations are a separate deployment scope.
Local Inference Systems
Tools & Techniques: LM Studio, Qwen, OpenAI compatible APIs, Express, GPU offloading, Quantized models
- Configure local model runtimes and expose inference to application services over HTTP.
- Work with model selection, available memory, GPU offloading, and local service troubleshooting.
- Integrate generation requests and response handling into a specific instructional workflow.
Hands on local inference deployment and integration, including a reported working educational generation path.
Document & Data Pipelines
Tools & Techniques: Python, PowerShell, Tesseract, Poppler, PDF extraction, JSONL, Local retrieval, Source tracking
- Combine embedded PDF text extraction with selective page OCR, normalization and structured records.
- Compare OCR passes and send disagreements or ambiguous symbols to a review queue.
- Segment OCR-derived narrative using explicit scene breaks, transition and lexical-cohesion cues, word budgets and multi-page references; retain the reasons for each opening boundary.
- Preserve source documents, page references, processing manifests and partial output when a stage fails.
- Separate extraction, indexing, retrieval and inference so each stage can be inspected independently.
- Keep source identifiers with retrieved passages and flag citations or claims that need human verification.
Educational and technical document workflows, including local retrieval and review tooling. The public example uses prepared OCR results; the private processing backend and measured extraction accuracy are not demonstrated here.
Survey Analytics Interfaces
Tools & Techniques: React, TypeScript, REST API clients, Survey records, Filtering, Charts and tables
- Build survey summary panels covering response counts, districts, sentiment groups and theme frequency.
- Organize contact activity by district and method in a readable matrix.
- Connect typed survey records to frontend panels and refresh controls.
- Present relationships and trends with interactive chart components.
Historical survey frontend work covering panels, record transformations and API integration. The public preview uses fictional records and direct counts; it does not demonstrate the original backend or model accuracy.
Automation, Tooling & Infrastructure
I develop scripts for staging data, running batch processes, preparing caches, packaging outputs, and reviewing operations. Python/Pillow handles asset preparation; PowerShell and TypeScript coordinate processing and development tasks.
I also compare cloud and local workload costs and estimated emissions using run volume, hardware life, task and idle power, facility overhead, and embodied emissions. Scenario values are synthetic; a real recommendation requires measured inputs and equivalent service quality.
My computing experience includes workstation assembly, hardware configuration, local model runtimes, and troubleshooting. Multimedia work includes OBS and VoiceMeeter audio routing, source isolation, filtering, and application-to-device signal paths. Earlier agricultural modeling, embedded automation, and haptic concepts remain historical research or prototypes with project-specific scope.

Repository Analysis & Recovery
Tools & Techniques: PowerShell, TypeScript, Node.js, Git, Local language models
- Inventory source files while excluding dependencies, generated output and unrelated binaries.
- Divide large repositories into bounded units for staged local analysis.
- Separate read-only findings from proposed changes, with backup and rollback arrangements.
- Distinguish source observations from runtime checks, measured performance and repairs.
The supplied public PowerShell sample demonstrates scoped inventory, directory pruning, bounded source reads and keyword classification. It does not execute local AI or establish architecture or completion. Historical AI-assisted analysis is broader experience; source observations, runtime checks and completed repairs remain separate.
Experimental AI Evaluation
Tools & Techniques: Python, Flask, React, TypeScript, JSONL, Evaluation harnesses
- Prototype configurable prompt construction, test wave selection, output review, and result logging.
- Separate dispatch, mutation, evaluation, and batch orchestration into modules.
- Explore adversarial AI behavior in controlled experiments and organize outputs for comparison.
The supplied Orphans-Vigil public TypeScript sample exposes code points, flags Unicode format characters and compares NFC/NFKC normalization using a benign fixture. It does not call a model or demonstrate successful injection. The supplied Airless Node Python sample adds deterministic response flags, structured batch output and unit-test source. Its narrow rules are not a comprehensive safety classifier; no model or distributed execution is demonstrated. Broader historical evaluation prototypes had varying integration and completion.

Failover requires its own implementation. |
Evidence & Sources
Historical context, not proof that this implementation would prevent the same incident.
- AWS DynamoDB, October 2025
A DNS automation failure affected DynamoDB and dependent services. Separate service names do not necessarily mean independent failure paths.
What's Included & What to Plan For
- Agree first: where data is stored, who can access it and where the software runs.
- Plan separately: privacy requirements, backups and ongoing operation.
- Before public use: a prototype needs further work and checks for security, reliability and the expected number of users.

|---|---|---|---|
| Design and delivery | Can provide this through explicitly scoped custom engineering. | Customization follows the chosen template and platform controls. | React and TypeScript source connects custom layout, graphics, and interactions using my own website foundations. |
| If rich graphics fail | Can provide this through explicitly scoped custom engineering. | Responsive sizing alone does not supply a reading fallback. | A scoped initial HTML reading path and isolated visual failure boundaries can preserve essential information. |
| Ownership and recurring costs | Can provide this through explicitly scoped custom engineering. | Export, hosting, and platform charges follow the provider agreement. | You own your domain and supplied content. Evidence & Sources
Historical context, not proof that this implementation would prevent the same incident.
- Cloudflare, June 2022
A configuration change interrupted traffic at 19 data centers. Source ownership does not make hosting or delivery infrastructure immune to outages.
What's Included & What to Plan For
- One-time builds: $995 for up to three pages or $1,495 for up to five.
- Managed rental: $395 setup + $149/month for up to three pages.
- Rental term: 12 months initially.
- Launch rental offer: $295 setup + $129/month for the first 12 months, for the first five customers.
- Your property: you own your domain and supplied content.
- One-time builds: hosting and ongoing care cost extra.
- Quoted separately: extra pages, booking, payments, new features, code transfer and buyout.
Interactive Demos & Multilingual Content
- Combine interactive examples, different reading levels, and prepared language versions so visitors can choose how they explore your offering.
Features and comparison
- Let visitors read, watch, and participate.
- I connect the explanation, the interaction, and the underlying application logic.
Included features
- Working previews, guided activities, configurators, and mini-games.
- Explanatory animation with controls appropriate to the experience.
- Beginner, Complex, and Technical explanations of the same subject.
- Optional language selection, translated interface labels, and locale-aware formatting.
Compare Approaches
| What matters | Custom team engagement | Standard content package | Full Metal Logic |
|---|---|---|---|
| Audience choices | Can provide this through explicitly scoped custom engineering. | A conventional content package usually starts with a fixed presentation. | Beginner, Complex, and Technical copy can use one stable layout, with shared content identities and richer detail views. |
| Explanation and behavior | Can provide this through explicitly scoped custom engineering. | A written example can describe a result without executing the rules. | A scoped interactive demonstration connects user input, software behavior, and visible output. Prepared translations require separate language review. |
What's Included & What to Plan For
- Languages: agree which are included and who supplies and reviews translations.
- Updates: agree who keeps translations current.
- Reading depth: simpler or more technical English is not translation into another language.
- Private demonstrations: some examples require an invitation.
Data, AI & Education
Document Pipelines & Local AI
- Structured document processing and local AI integration with replaceable service boundaries.
- Keep suitable work on your own hardware and reduce reliance on one remote provider, while preserving source references and human review.
Features and comparison
- Keep the workflow in your hands.
- I separate the task from the model or provider, so changing a service does not have to mean rebuilding the application.
Included features
- Document extraction and structured processing using appropriate tools.
- Separate handling for original files, extracted text, reference material, and temporary data.
- Source references and unresolved questions included in review outputs.
- Local model configuration, explicit service contracts, and replacement planning where suitable.
Compare Approaches
| What matters | Custom team engagement | General-purpose AI tool | Full Metal Logic |
|---|---|---|---|
| Remote AI unavailable | Can provide this through explicitly scoped custom engineering. | A remotely hosted AI session needs its provider and network path to respond. | Suitable models, source files, and processing can run locally without a remote inference call. Local power, hardware, and model availability still matter. |
| Changing the model or service | Can provide this through explicitly scoped custom engineering. | A product interface can tie prompts, stored context, and tools to one provider. | Workflow stages and explicit API contracts separate the model from extraction, rules, and presentation. Compatible replacements require integration checks; automatic live failover is separate scope. |
| Data and traceability | Can provide this through explicitly scoped custom engineering. | Retention, processing location, and citations depend on the selected product and configuration. | I keep original documents, extracted records, reference collections, model output, and review separate, carrying source identifiers into outputs. |
| Security responsibility | Can provide this through explicitly scoped custom engineering. | Hosted products and their users share security responsibilities. | Local processing can reduce transmission and provider dependence. Access controls, patching, backups, and human review remain required; local does not mean breach proof. |
Evidence & Sources
Historical context, not proof that this implementation would prevent the same incident.
- Snowflake customer accounts, June 2024 report
Mandiant traced investigated customer account intrusions to stolen credentials. Data location alone does not replace strong authentication and access controls.
- Google Cloud, June 2025
A Service Control defect disrupted multiple products. A local inference path can remove the remote inference dependency, while other dependencies remain.
What's Included & What to Plan For
- Check the results: AI answers and text extracted from documents can contain errors and need human review.
- Local processing: suitable work runs on your hardware instead of relying on a remote processing service.
- Still needed: power, working hardware, security and backups; some workflows also need a network connection.
- External services: hosting, sign-in and integrations can still fail independently.
- Recovery options: automatic switching, restoration and availability targets need separate implementation and checks.
- Privacy requirements: local processing alone does not prove compliance.
Education & Curriculum Systems
- Curriculum and instructional software connecting learning goals, progression, activities, and feedback, informed by classroom experience.
Features and comparison
- Bring classroom context into the software requirements.
- My education work informs how I explain, sequence, and adapt an experience.
Included features
- Learning objectives translated into activity requirements.
- Defined activity rules and configurable difficulty.
- Narrative, demonstrations, and guided interaction.
- Interfaces and feedback shaped around the intended learners.
Compare Approaches
| What matters | Custom team engagement | Standard learning platform | Full Metal Logic |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classroom requirements | Can provide this through explicitly scoped custom engineering. | An established learning platform starts with supported activities and configuration. | General and Moderate/Severe special education experience informs activity rules, explanation, accessibility requirements, and educator workflows. |
| Academic rules and generation | Can provide this through explicitly scoped custom engineering. | Question correctness depends on the platform implementation. | Deterministic engines calculate expected answers and difficulty; local AI can supply narrative. Learner management and outcome evaluation require their own scope. |
What's Included & What to Plan For
- Agree first: the learners, learning goals and accessibility requirements.
- Review before use: assess educational content and accessibility for the intended learners.
- Additional features: learner accounts, progress management and personalised learning are scoped separately.
- Original product invention: reserved for nonprofits.
Maintenance & Recovery
Lightweight Fallbacks & Recovery
- Lightweight content and recovery paths that preserve access to important information when selected visual features fail.
Features and comparison
- Plan for more than the ideal connection.
- My current website includes an embedded reading fallback alongside its richer application.
Included features
- Essential information included in the initial page where the project requires it.
- A lightweight reading option alongside selected interactive features.
- Failure boundaries around optional animation or graphics.
- Consistent content across the full experience and its fallback.
Compare Approaches
| What matters | Custom team engagement | Responsive layout only | Full Metal Logic |
|---|---|---|---|
| What can keep working | Can provide this through explicitly scoped custom engineering. | Responsive layout changes dimensions but still depends on the application loading. | Essential content can be authored into initial HTML alongside downloadable readable versions and isolated optional effects. |
| What still depends on services | Can provide this through explicitly scoped custom engineering. | Layout adaptation does not provide alternate authentication or payment services. | I distinguish readable content recovery from hosting, login, booking, and payment availability. The initial document must still reach the visitor. |
Evidence & Sources
Historical context, not proof that this implementation would prevent the same incident.
- Cloudflare, June 2022
A configuration change interrupted traffic at 19 data centers. Source ownership does not make hosting or delivery infrastructure immune to outages.
What's Included & What to Plan For
- What stays readable: essential page text can remain available if an optional animation or visual effect fails.
- What must still work: the visitor must first be able to load the page from its host.
- Hosting or internet outage: this fallback does not make an unreachable website available.
- Accounts, booking and payments: each needs a separate plan for handling service failures.
- Offline access: saving a usable copy on the visitor’s device requires additional work.
Technical Review & Software Recovery
- Review the code and its connected systems, identify likely failure points, and separate essential repairs from optional improvements.
Features and comparison
- Follow the fault into the implementation.
- Repair and adaptation come before an assumed rewrite.
Included features
- Code, dependency, configuration, and ownership review.
- Animation timing and readiness investigation where relevant.
- Prioritized findings with repair options and delivery boundaries.
- Separately scoped implementation and performance assessment.
Compare Approaches
| What matters | Custom team engagement | Surface-level site review | Full Metal Logic |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fault location | Can provide this through explicitly scoped custom engineering. | A surface review identifies visible symptoms and content issues. | I trace source ownership, state transitions, dependency chains, and readiness gates before proposing repair or replacement. |
| Evidence of recovery | Can provide this through explicitly scoped custom engineering. | A recommendation does not establish that the repaired system works. | Source findings, implemented repairs, runtime checks, and measured results are distinct deliverables; I report which were actually performed. |
Evidence & Sources
Historical context, not proof that this implementation would prevent the same incident.
- Cloudflare, November 2025
A faulty feature file propagated through the network. Recovery required stopping propagation and restoring a known good configuration.
What's Included & What to Plan For
- Review access: findings depend on the code, records and system access you provide.
- Older or unfamiliar systems: time to learn the platform may be needed first.
- Code review: identifies issues visible in source; it does not prove how the running system behaves.
- Separate work: running the software, measuring performance and making repairs must be agreed explicitly.
Consulting & Partnerships
Private Engineering & Consulting
- Hands-on architecture and technical consulting that connects your goals, constraints, and existing systems to a scoped delivery plan.
Features and comparison
- Discuss the technical problem with the person who can investigate and implement the solution.
Included features
- Requirements analysis and application architecture.
- API, local compute, and workflow integration planning.
- Reusable workbenches around real components.
- Automation for staging files, preparing assets, and packaging outputs.
Compare Approaches
| What matters | Custom team engagement | Advisory-only engagement | Full Metal Logic |
|---|---|---|---|
| Architecture to implementation | Can provide this through explicitly scoped custom engineering. | An advisory deliverable may require a separate implementer. | I can translate dependency maps and API boundaries into scoped TypeScript services, Python processing, or reusable workbenches. |
| Reducing provider dependence | Can provide this through explicitly scoped custom engineering. | Recommendations alone do not establish an alternate operating path. | I identify local processing candidates, replaceable integrations, remaining shared dependencies, and the implementation needed for a recovery path. |
Evidence & Sources
Historical context, not proof that this implementation would prevent the same incident.
- AWS DynamoDB, October 2025
A DNS automation failure affected DynamoDB and dependent services. Separate service names do not necessarily mean independent failure paths.
What's Included & What to Plan For
- Agree the deliverables: investigation, building, documentation and ongoing support are priced and scheduled explicitly.
- Private work: confidential data and internal workflows are excluded from public demonstrations.
White-Label Development
- A direct engineering partner for components, prototypes, custom visuals, and application features, with a documented handoff.
Features and comparison
- Add implementation support without another management layer between you and the developer.
Included features
- Custom component and application implementation.
- WebGL graphics and interactive prototypes where required.
- Reusable supporting tools when the project needs them.
- Source delivery, integration notes, and agreed support boundaries.
Compare Approaches
| What matters | Custom team engagement | Template implementation service | Full Metal Logic |
|---|---|---|---|
| Custom implementation | Can provide this through explicitly scoped custom engineering. | Template implementation stays within supported layouts and extensions. | I can work directly in component, shader, rendering lifecycle, and service code under your brand. |
| Technical handoff | Can provide this through explicitly scoped custom engineering. | A configured site does not necessarily include reusable source or operating documentation. | The agreement defines source delivery, dependencies, integration notes, acceptance criteria, confidentiality, and support boundaries. |
What's Included & What to Plan For
- Agree before delivery: confidentiality, whose name appears on the work and who can access the source code.
- Define completion: the requirements you use to accept the work.
- Schedule and support: agree capacity, delivery dates and support responsibilities.
Technology Licensing
- Use suitable technology from my existing work, with adaptation, ownership, and maintenance responsibilities agreed for the engagement.
Features and comparison
- Build on a component whose author can explain its boundaries and help integrate it.
Included features
- Review of available engines and reusable components.
- Defined inputs, outputs, dependencies, and operating limits.
- Separately scoped adaptation and integration.
- Written license, source-access, and support terms.
Compare Approaches
| What matters | Custom team engagement | Off-the-shelf component license | Full Metal Logic |
|---|---|---|---|
| Adaptation and contracts | Can provide this through explicitly scoped custom engineering. | An existing component exposes the options and permissions of its license. | I can assess source adaptations and define inputs, outputs, dependencies, and operating limits for technology I provide. |
| Portability and ownership | Can provide this through explicitly scoped custom engineering. | Availability, source access, and continued use depend on the license. | Permitted use, third party notices, source access, adaptation, and support are written terms. A license does not automatically transfer ownership. |
What's Included & What to Plan For
- Available technology: only components I can offer for your intended use are included.
- Written terms: define permitted use, third-party requirements, source delivery and support.
- Public examples: show capabilities without publishing confidential implementation details.

Ongoing Care & Security Options
- Managed technical care with optional monitoring, access controls, abuse protection, and code-protection measures suited to the project.
Features and comparison
- Keep the implementation knowledge with your maintenance.
- You contact me directly about the code and configuration I maintain.
Included features
- Dependency review, applicable security updates, and compatibility maintenance.
- Agreed backup frequency, retention, and restoration arrangements.
- Optional monitoring, rate limiting, access controls, and security-header configuration.
- Optional selective code obfuscation; it deters casual inspection but does not secure client-side code.
Compare Approaches
| What matters | Custom team engagement | Hosting-only support | Full Metal Logic |
|---|---|---|---|
| Application versus host | Can provide this through explicitly scoped custom engineering. | Hosting support generally addresses the infrastructure covered by its agreement. | I work on the application source, dependencies, and configuration in the maintenance scope, with defined response windows. |
| Recovery and change | Can provide this through explicitly scoped custom engineering. | A host backup alone does not establish a working application restore. | Backup frequency, retention, restoration arrangements, and upgrade scope are agreed explicitly. Recovery drills and rollback validation must be commissioned and performed. |
Evidence & Sources
Historical context, not proof that this implementation would prevent the same incident.
- Microsoft Exchange, March 2021
Active exploitation affected on premises Exchange Server. Local ownership includes patching, monitoring, and access control responsibilities.
- CrowdStrike, July 2024
A defective security content update caused Windows host failures. Local systems also need controlled updates and recovery procedures.
What's Included & What to Plan For
- Support hours: agree response windows; 24-hour personal availability is not included.
- Browser code: visitors can inspect code delivered to their browser, even if it is made harder to read.
- Security: hiding code does not replace access controls.
- Quoted separately: major upgrades and new features.
Comparisons describe common delivery models, not every provider. A larger firm may bring a broader team and more capacity. I offer direct access to the person doing the design and engineering. Each proposal defines the deliverables, acceptance criteria, ownership, support hours, and operating responsibilities.
Original Products for Nonprofits
I reserve original product invention for nonprofit organizations, building practical technology that supports people, education, and responsible resource use.
- Housing advocacy
- Practical tools and understandable information for organizations supporting housing access.

Roots
I design for local control, accessibility, clear responsibilities, and computing resources matched to the task.
- Local Compute
- Keep suitable processing and information local, with clear boundaries for changing models or services. Reduce dependence on one provider while planning for local failures and remaining external dependencies.
- Owned Systems
- Give people and institutions control over their data, models, and information processing infrastructure.
- Respect Constraints
- Choose repair, reuse, and targeted improvements before replacement. Match complexity and resource use to the actual requirement.
- Accessible by Design
- Design around real needs, make complex behavior understandable, and provide accessible ways to operate the system.
